THE LITTLE THINGS

book cover - the little things.jpg

Dear Reader,

I wrote this story after I discovered the power of gratitude in my own life. I want to help our children understand what gratitude is, and why it’s important to practice it in their lives. We live in a world where it's more important than ever to slow down and appreciate the little things we have to cherish.

The two children in the story represent my own children, Luc and Sophie. Throughout the book they create their own gratitude journal based on some of our favourite family moments. Each page has special meaning and is truly a love story for my family.

Through the cycle of gratitude, we'll see that the more thankful we are for the good things in our lives, the more we will have to be thankful for. And it's the little things that make a big difference.

The simple message and straightforward text makes the concept of gratitude accessible to even our youngest readers. I encourage you to read this story with the children in your life and to create your own gratitude practice together. Writing what you're grateful for in a journal is a great way to start a consistent practice that will create magic in your life! Check out The Little Things Journal: Daily Gratitude for Kids.

With gratitude,

EXCELLENT MATH MINDSET RESOURCE

"What a great resource! As a middle school educator, I see first hand the struggles students have in Math, often paired with a fixed mindset of "I'm just not good at Math". These quick, thoughtful prompts are great ways to tie discussion and reflection into a Math program or morning community time. I will be ordering the paperback version too!"

~ Kerri Loughrey, middle school teacher

THE LITTLE THINGS IS REALLY WHAT MATTERS

"This book is an excellent tool for all teachers! We should have more books like these to engage the students and keep their attention. This book is well written with so much detail and attention. The author has touched so many important little moments that we all have lived and maybe take for granted. It is so important to teach gratitude to our children and to our students. I love the discussions we have in class when we talk about GRATITUDE and this book will only make the exchanges even more enjoyable. There is so much content and using her own experiences makes us feel like we know this author. Can’t wait to get back to class with this book in hand and read to my students. I will have to translate it in French but the illustrator did such a great job that the story can be imagined just by flipping through the pages. This message is one that needs to be shared by all. I encourage everyone to get a copy because change starts with you and The little things could make that change for us to live in a better thoughtful and grateful world."
~ Maryse, teacher

A WONDERFUL BOOK FOR YOUR CHILDREN AND STUDENTS

"Especially given the current times, this book is a wonderful reminder of all the things to be grateful for around us. It helps us to see the beauty in our world that we sometimes take for granted. It teaches us to appreciate the things we can control and take comfort in "the little things". Gratefulness and Growth Mindset are key components in the social/emotional development of our students these days, so this would be a wonderful resource in all classroom and school libraries."

~ Julia Barbuto, teacher

GREAT BOOK FOR THE YOUNG AND OLD!

"Great book for the young and old! I am excited to add this book as a resource to teach Kindergarteners about gratitude. For everyone else it’s a great reminder to notice the wonderful things we receive each day and to be thankful for them all. There is never something to have gratitude big or too small."

~ Kristen, Early Childhood Educator

A LOVELY BOOK TO READ AND TO PROMOTE REFLECTION ON YOUR OWN LIFE

"Wonderful book. Great to read to your own children or to a class. You could have meaningful family or class discussions on simple things you are grateful for, and have your children or class do their own book or special page to frame. Well done!"

~ Janice, parent & grandparent

APPRECIATING THE LITTLE THINGS AROUND YOU
